MY PROFILE

“Outside the eurozone” sounds great to tour operators — a bit like “off-street parking” to estate agents. It makes Turkey a bargain, and nowhere more so than this revamped hotel, squirrelled into a forest between Marmaris and Datca. Bordubet has reinvented itself as one of the country’s best boutiques, with chic rooms, a private beach and delicious food from its organic gardens. Exclusive Escapes (020 8605 3500, exclusiveescapes.co.uk) has a week in May from £650pp, half-board — a cracking saving of £1,150.

Trump Soho, New York

This is the Big Apple’s big spring unveiling, from the stable of the world’s most famous comb-over, Donald Trump. The rooms have vast glass walls, with views of the Statue of Liberty, and there is talk of a sizzling pool scene, with private cabanas and alfresco massages. It opens in April, with rates starting at £200, which will rise to £335 in the autumn (00 1 212 842 5500, trumpsohohotel.com). Flights are not included; airlines serving New York include Continental (0845 607 6760, continental.com) and Virgin Atlantic (0844 209 7777, virgin-atlantic.com).

Jalousie Plantation, St Lucia

This place has both an A-list location — on a breathtaking bay between the twin cones of the Piton mountains — and an A-list pedigree. Originally owned by Lord Glenconner, it is undergoing a £66m makeover and will relaunch as the Tides Sugar Beach next year. In the meantime, the new villas are being rented at knockdown prices to compensate for the remote risk of spotting a builder’s bum. Caribtours (020 7751 0660, www.caribtours.co.uk) has a week, half-board, from £1,665pp until October 15, a saving of £825. Book by March 31.

Al Wadi, UAE

Banyan Tree operates some of the world’s best spas, and at Al Wadi, which opened at Ras al Khaimah earlier this month, the treatments come with a bonus: views of Arabian gazelles, camels and oryx tiptoeing through a vast nature reserve. Seasons in Style (01244 202000, seasonsinstyle.com) has four nights from £1,275pp, B&B, until September 21, a saving of £380. That includes a complimentary 90-minute treatment.

Trou aux Biches, Mauritius

As Easter approaches, our thoughts turn... to Christmas. To celebrate abroad, you need to plan ahead and forget about bargains. This year, however, you could book Trou aux Biches, which is scheduled to open on November 1 and tipped to rival the island’s big hitters, Le Touessrok and Le Saint Géran (which never discount over Christmas). It launches with a week from £2,050pp, half-board, a £395 saving, for stays up to December 27. Book through Beachcomber (01483 445685, beachcombertours.co.uk) from March 22.

Beach House, Maldives

The Waldorf Astoria Collection opened its first Indian Ocean property on March 1, and while it has fripperies — overwater villas, wine experiences, an art gallery — it also comes with financial incentives. Destinology (0800 634 2866, destinology.co.uk) has a week from £2,169pp, B&B, until April 30, a saving of £1,300.

Soneva Kiri, Thailand

On a pristine island near the Cambodian border, this is one of the hottest new hotels, its sumptuous (but sustainable) villas tucked into the rainforest. Abercrombie & Kent (0845 618 2124, www.abercrombiekent.co.uk) has seven nights there, with two more in Bangkok, from £3,195pp, B&B — not cheap, but still a saving of £1,700. The deal is valid until October 31.

Alila Villas Soori, Bali

It opened only recently, but Alila Villas Soori is creating a real ripple among travel aficionados. It’s a class act, from the eco-luxury design to the totally tropical location on a serene beach. From June, it will be frighteningly expensive, so go now — Bailey Robinson (01488 689700, baileyrobinson.com) has 10 nights from £1,780pp, B&B, a saving of £1,085.

Sinalei Reef, Samoa

Samoa is a South Pacific hot spot waiting to happen, with powder-fine beaches, limpid waters and feisty cultural action. After last year’s tsunami, the Sinalei Reef closed for a rebuild, and its 27 stunning villas reopen on April 1. Tailor Made Travel (0845 456 8050, tailor-made.co.uk) has eight nights for £1,378pp, B&B, a saving of £362, valid until June 15. Book by March 31.

Amanfayun, China

Shanghai is fast-paced and in your face - so it’s nice to be able to escape the city for some heavy-duty R&R. An 80-minute ride on the bullet train whisks you to the ancient capital, Hangzhou, home to endless bamboo forests, pagodas, temples and the swanky new Amanfayun, exquisitely converted from traditional tea workers’ cottages. Scott Dunn (020 8682 5060, scottdunn.com) has a week from £1,600pp, B&B, a saving of £700, valid until May.

Constance Ephelia, Seychelles

The Seychelles are home to some of the world’s most expensive hotels, but you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to stay at the Constance Ephelia — at least during the soft-opening period. It has 184 suites, cleverly spaced around two of the loveliest beaches on Mahé. Audley (01993 838500, audleytravel.com) has a week from £1,198pp, half-board, a saving of £650. Book by the end of April for travel between May 1 and July 15.
